The Waiting Library
The "Waiting Library" was designed at the entrance of the "Klal Building," located in the center of Jerusalem, next to the light rail station to provide a comfortable and practical space for travelers and passersby. The library contains personal lockers marked with letters to identify each locker, comfortable seating areas for resting before the trip and a small kitchen to prepare light drinks.
Natural wood was used in the design to add warmth to the place, along with the integration of plants and vegetables to create a calm and natural atmosphere within a busy urban environment. The library also includes an internal staircase to access the books placed above and a ventilation system condition that maintains good air quality.
The choice of the library’s location inside the "Klal building" was not by chance; the building is considered a vital center in the city, housing shops, offices and open spaces. It features a design that allows the integration of natural and functional elements. It also holds architectural and cultural significance as part of the urban development history of Jerusalem, making the library a meeting point between daily movement, personal comfort and a sense of belonging to the place.
